When helping backfires

Just recently someone was sharing with me about a project they took on but decided to leave. I recall when they said yes to the project. It was in the midst of building her own business and life with her family. This additional project wouldn’t be paid but she said yes because she remembered what it felt like to have others help her in those beginning stages. She wanted to give back so she said yes.

I love hearts that seek out ways to give. We know the struggle to get a seat at the table and we’ve decided that instead of just viciously protecting our seat we’ll look for ways to bring other chairs or create new tables. But there have been some lessons learned in doing this.
